as there seems to be a lot of debate going on as to how a super league would work and who would be allowed to play where and how would you restrict certain areas who would have a stronger pick etc etc. i was doing a bit of thinking about it over the xmas break and as their seems to be only a certain ammount players who will play anyway and mayb others teams would have to go looking for players to make up the numbers.scrap that idea and go with a singles premier league style competition?????

spledid idea. but why dont everyone jus go to newbawn darts club "super league" we have 40 members 10 of which are made up of present and ex county players. and we have no restrictions on who can join. there for no cap on county players the way tournaments are meant to be. goes on for 16 weeks my god we even hav our own forum wahey lol its being running sucessfully for 2 years now and keeps growing. so for all the players that want a good singles comp head over to us k

thats a fair point there and what the ndc does in its competitions is great for darts but what i was thinking of is the top 16 in the county split into two groups of 8 so thats 7 wks of matches and hold the competitions at various pubs throught he county so that it makes for equal travelling for every one and would also add a few quid to nthe coffers for prise money if the papers would do a little coverage it mite also help the profile of darts throught the county and get it advertised and encourage younger players to come into the game again... happened on a young man there last wk a practice game who was mad to play a few games and having watched hin throw hes well able to play def a player for county youths level if we had a team. i just think it would b a great way of top level practice for those wanting it and a good way to promote darts throught the county

as always such things would be better done under the cwdo but only if they were interested if not a few would have to get together to sort it out. i perfer things done by a group of people interested, things organised by one individual can over time become like a dictatorship, not a good idea!

in order to run a league like you sayin would mean you would want to draw a crowd of people because no pub will put up money to have 8 guys come play darts what you would need is for supporters to come so pubs wouldnt mind throwing in a few quid.

so just have a think to yourself what would it take for you to travel 15 min to 30 min to watch a game of darts?

i think it would be a great idea tho. ive run something simmiar ideas through the ndc but there is just so many things to go wrong it would be hard to get right, but if it was done properly once it could be huge.

my idea was to run a permier league but over 4 or 8 nights
lets just say in south wex for the min ok.

16 players in the league and everybody plays 2 matches each night so over 8 weeks every would play everybody.if you could get 4 pubs as sponcers but what would a pub give you to bring 16 players into there pub?

was ment to say you could approch each league as regaerds entering players so every league woud only get to enter 2 or 3 players then have top ranked county players invited or winners or various singles leagues.

Just on the subject of youth darts there triple5 i think it wud be great for wexford to see a youths team put in because i know of 2 young men in newbawn and i know of 8 or 9 young men in wexford town that are well able to throw darts and wouldnt it be great to get those young men for the up and coming wexfords mens team! Because all they need is a bit of proper games to put the pressure on and the will be able to cope with the pressure in years to come and by that stage they could be standing on the oche wearing the purple and gold

if theres enough interest in it i would be inclined to start off with the first 12 off the county ranking or the first 12 of them interested in playing and if theres more wanting to play in it have a qualifying competition then to fill the last 4 places. yuo could play 2 matches each nite if time allowed it but i think 2 groups on 2 boards and play the best of 9 or 11 legs is a good match each nite. it mite take a bit of time to get support for it or get spectators to turn up but if advertised well enough they just mite. if they dont it makes no difference the first objective is top class games for players each nite if we can drum up a bit of interest from the public and help promote the game more around the county in the process thats a bonus..any pub interested in darts would surely put up 50 or 100 euro to host a round of the competition along with an entry fee from the players and a bit of sponsorship if it could be got should put a few quid in the kitty. but look the main thing is get it up and running funds could be looked at over time.
